Guinea: former president moves into his wife’s house

Coup leaders in Guinea have said that the deposed president Alpha Condé has been transferred to his wife’s home in the capital Conakry.

In a statement broadcast on state television, the National Rally and Development Committee (CNRD) said Mr Condé was now with his wife, Hadja Djene Kaba Condé.

The junta said it would “continue to provide the former head of state with treatment worthy of his rank, and this without any national or international pressure”.

Ecowas imposed travel bans and a freeze on the financial assets of Guinea’s coup leaders and their families while calling for Mr Condé’s unconditional release.
