According to the Mozambican health ministry, heath workers will be the first people to be vaccinated against the coronvirus pandemic once national supplies arrive at the end of this week.
Benigna Matsinhe, Mozambique’s Deputy National Director of Public Health, made the announcement at a press conference on Monday, but did not say how many were being delivered.
Dr Matsinhe said the consignment was coming from China and there was a long queue of nations all seeking the same supplies.
“Although we are seeing an apparent stabilisation [in infection rates], it is not yet measurable”, she said. And to continue “we must not relax the preventive measures against Covid-19”.
