Nigeria announces its own vaccine against covid-19

Like other countries, Nigeria announces its own vaccine to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. It announces on Monday a project of 10 Billion Naira( $ 25,3m) to support the national production of vaccine in order to fight against the coronavirus pandemic throughout the territory.

During a press conference in Abuja , the Nigerian Minister of health Osagie Ehanire precised that the Minister of Finances released this sum to support the development of an indigenous vaccine.

“While working on development of our own vaccine to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, Nigeria is exploring all the options allowing to set up a licensed production, in collaboration with recognized institutions. We are also exploring the option of a local production of vaccine in the country”, has he indicated.

Minister Ehanire has also urged his compatriots to ignore the allegations that vaccines against coronavirus are already on sale in the country.

“I do not recommend fake vaccines because there is none that is approved for use in the country. National Primary Health Care Development Agency(NPHCDA) is the only competent body to authorize vaccines in nigeria”, has he reminded
