Uganda: private security guard arrested for killing Congolese national and his girlfriend

Ugandan police arrested a private security guard, who allegedly shot dead a Congolese national and his girlfriend, whom he was keeping in Bukasa, Makindye division in Kampala city, reports Dailymonitor.

The deceased have been identified as Siviwe Katembo, 33, and his girlfriend whose identity is yet to be known.

The suspect has also been identified as Raphael Okwanga, a security guard attached to D-GAP.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesman, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire, said the suspect is currently detained at Kabalagala Police Station, but his motive isn’t yet known.

It is alleged that the suspect got annoyed with the deceased before shooting them. We have recovered the gun and spent cartridges. We are holding him on murder offences,” he said.

The bodies of the deceased persons have been conveyed to the Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for postmortem.
