Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks on Monday with General Assimi Goïta, President of Mali’s transitional government, on an official visit to Moscow.
This high-level meeting is part of the strengthening of bilateral relations between Mali and Russia, said the Malian presidency, announcing the signing of several cooperation agreements in areas of common interest.
For his part, President Putin noted that trade between the two parties is rather modest for the moment.
However, “the growth dynamic is positive and the prospects for future cooperation are promising in the fields of exploration, exploitation of mineral resources, energy, logistics and humanitarian aid”, he said.
“Russia has long-standing ties with Mali and dialogue in various areas, including at governmental and parliamentary level,” President Putin added.
