The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man for killing his sister’s boyfriend during a violent altercation in Kunya Village, Minjibir Local Government Area of the state, Nigeria.
The tragic incident led to the death of the victim, also 25, from Goda Village in the same local government.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the victim had visited his girlfriend at her residence when he was allegedly attacked by her brother.
According to reports, “the suspect struck the victim on the head with a stick, inflicting serious injuries.”
“The victim was rushed to the Kunya Cottage Hospital and later referred to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, where he died,” Kiyawa said.
The suspect is currently in custody, and the case is being handled by the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the act and urged the public to exercise restraint and resolve conflicts peacefully.
“We appeal to residents to avoid taking the law into their hands and report any dispute or suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement read.
