Meta makes a major investment

Meta announces the deployment of thousands of kilometers of undersea cable to unleash the global potential of artificial intelligence.

The American giant Meta thus intends to strengthen its independence by relying on an infrastructure that is as essential as it is sensitive.

For the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, this means deploying a 50,000 km undersea cable to bring state-of-the-art connectivity to the United States, India, Brazil, South Africa and other regions.

With a multi-year investment of several billion dollars, this is the most ambitious submarine cable project ever undertaken by the company, it boasts.

These undersea cables will provide the abundant, high-speed connectivity needed to drive innovation in artificial intelligence, Meta asserted.

Called Project Waterworth, the future cable announced by Meta will be the third to be wholly owned by the group, while Google owns sixteen.
