Benin: man fakes the death of his child to get 3000 FCFA

An individual has used an unusual method to cope with his current financial difficulties in the Abomey-Calavi, Benin.

According to reports, this father, suffering from financial difficulties and aware that the economic context no longer encourages solidarity, decided to use a trick to solve his financial problem.

He told a friend that his child had an illness and was in urgent need of money.

He put pressure on his friend to come up with the small amount he needed. As the reaction was slow in coming, he finally announced the child’s death despite treatment by a charlatan.

He told his friend that the charlatan demanded 3,000 FCFA before releasing the child’s body.

Touched by this imaginary tragedy, the friend was able to find him the 3000 FCFA. But shortly after receiving the money, the father called his friend back, exclaiming: God be praised. His child, supposedly dead, had finally been resurrected.
