President Joe Biden commits to regulated immigration

Hundreds of thousands of immigrants to the United States will soon be able to benefit from regularization measures introduced by the Democratic president.

This announcement by the White House on June 18 comes in the midst of the US presidential campaign, when immigration is a politically sensitive issue.

Accused of laxity by his Republican predecessor Donald Trump, Joe Biden is nevertheless keen to highlight the benefits of regulated immigration.

Marrying an American citizen is the quickest route to naturalization, but it’s not the easiest when you’ve entered the country illegally.

According to a press release from the U.S. executive branch, the President intends to facilitate the issuance of residence and work permits to immigrant spouses and children of U.S. citizens.

In addition, the work visa procedure will be accelerated for certain immigrants who have obtained a higher education diploma in the United States and have received a job offer in the country.
