Guinea: former President Dadis Camara’s fate will soon be known

The trial of the massacre of September 28, 2009 will open on September 26 and the former head of the junta Moussa Dadis Camara is among the accused, Guinean authorities announced.

At least 150 dead during the massacres and 11 people are in the dock.

This is a relief for the victims because the start of this trial would naturally arouse in them hopes of justice.

“We hope that this time we will go all the way,” Alsény Sall, communications manager for the Guinean Organization for the Defense of Human Rights (OGDH), told Jeune Afrique.

Reports said the office of the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in Conakry recently sent a mission to take stock of the progress of the preparations for the trial.
