Ivory Coast discovers a world-class gold mine

A new world-class gold mine has been discovered in the north-east of the country by the Australian company Resolute Mining Limited, the Ivorian government announced on Monday.

“A world-class gold mine of at least 100 tonnes has been discovered in the Doropo department in the north-east of the country,” wrote the government after an exchange between Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and Chris Eger, Managing Director of Resolute Mining Limited.

In recent years, Ivory Coast’s mining sector has been booming, and the country has taken a series of measures to attract foreign investors.

Another world-class deposit to be discovered in 2022 in eastern Ivory Coast will produce 150 tonnes of gold.

Long centered on the production of raw materials, mainly cocoa, Ivory Coast’s economy has been diversifying in recent years with the exploitation of its subsoil riches (minerals, oil and gas).
