A Fulani herdsman has allegedly killed his four-month-old pregnant wife, at Frimpongkrom in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region, Ghana.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025.
The victim had long suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, according to neighbours.
In the days leading up to the incident, she confided in their landlord and his wife about her intention to return to her hometown in Northern Ghana due to the persistent maltreatment.
However, the suspect reportedly convinced her to stay, promising to change his behaviour a promise that was short-lived.
On the evening of the incident, while the couple was having dinner, the suspect allegedly the woman abruptly and, without provocation, slaughtered his pregnant wife in cold blood.
Following the act, the suspect fled the scene and is believed to have escaped across the border into Ivory Coast.
Medical personnel at a nearby facility later conducted an emergency operation in an attempt to save the unborn child, but both mother and baby were pronounced dead.
The victim has since been buried. Meanwhile, security authorities in both Ghana and Ivory Coast have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large.
