Ghana: three pupils injured after high tension cable falls

A high-tension cable has felt on three school pupils at Kasoa Ofaakor in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region, Ghana.

Three school pupils are in critical condition and receiving treatment at St. Joe’s Clinic and the Kasoa Polyclinic.

The unfortunate incident happened on Monday behind the Kasoa Ofaakor Sports Stadium on the Ofankor-Jei River road.

According to Adom News, “the high-tension line had been faulty for several months, frequently sparking fires. Despite lodging complaints with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), no action was taken.”

Residents are still in shock over how the cable fell on the children after school hours.

Eyewitnesses who rushed the victims to the hospital reported that they suffered severe burns, with two of them unconscious.

Mother of one of the victims said she has been left devastated by the incident.
