Human rights NGO Amnesty International today, Monday, May 19, joins the list of undesirable organizations created since 2015 by Russia and comprising nearly 223 organizations.
According to the Russian prosecutor’s office, “Amnesty’s London headquarters is the preparation center for global Russophobic projects financed by accomplices of the Kiev regime”.
In a statement, the prosecutor’s office accuses the NGO of “doing everything possible to strengthen military confrontation in the region, justify the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis and call for an increase in their funding”.
The activities of the NGO Amnesty International are now banned in Russia, as “undesirable” status forces the organizations concerned to close their doors.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that all those responsible for serious human rights violations, whether in Russia, Ukraine or elsewhere, are brought to justice,” wrote the London-based organization in a statement.
