Eight people were killed and 16 injured on Sunday in a road accident involving a truck and a vehicle carrying passengers in South Africa, according to reports.
The KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the collision on the N2 highway near Empangeni, a town in the eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal, where paramedics found eight people dead at the scene, reports stated.
Four people were seriously injured and 12 others seriously wounded.
All the injured were rescued on the spot before being transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by authorities.
