Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were crowned French soccer champions for the 13th time in their history on Saturday April 5, 2025, following their 1-0 victory over Angers at the Parc des Princes.
Luis Enrique’s players won thanks to a goal from Désiré Doué (55th), and celebrated this second title of the season in front of their supporters, following the Champions Trophy won over Monaco (1-0) on January 5 in Doha, Qatar.
This latest French league title, PSG’s 4th in a row and 11th since the club’s takeover by sovereign wealth fund Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) in 2011, seems like an obvious non-event, given PSG’s total domination this season.
In other words, if many analysts are to be believed, PSG’s dominance could well undermine the championship’s appeal.
