A couple have been arrested for chaining their 9-year-old son in a bush for two days in Gomoa Nkwantanan, in the Gomoa East district of Ghana’s Central Region.
According to reports, the suspects admitted to the act, claiming the boy was stubborn and needed to be disciplined.
The child was rescued by a woman who had gone into the bush to gather firewood.
According to Adom News, “the woman brought him to the chief’s palace with chains and padlocks still fastened to both legs.”
Narrating his ordeal, the boy revealed that his father had threatened to punish him and his younger brother for being late to school.
Upon their return home, he was taken into the bush, chained, and abandoned.
Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing, and the couple is expected to face legal action.
