2026 World Cup: this country opens the ball of qualified countries

Following their 2-0 victory over Bahrain, Japan became the first country to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by Canada, the USA and Mexico, with three days remaining in the Asian Zone qualifying competition.

Leading Group C by a wide margin, the team coached by Hajime Moriyasu is guaranteed a place at next year’s World Cup, alongside the three automatic qualifiers from the host countries.

The Blue Samurai are taking part in a World Cup for the eighth consecutive time.

From June 11 to July 19, 2026, the World Cup will bring together for the first time 48 teams in 12 groups of four, instead of 32 (since 1998).

Europe will offer 16 tickets for the competition, South America six or seven, Africa nine or ten, Asia eight or nine (one ticket has already been snapped up by Japan), and North America, Central America and the Caribbean six or eight (including the three host countries).
