Cybercriminals targeted the X (formerly Twitter) account of Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama to promote a fraudulent crypto-currency project.
For 48 hours, compromising messages were posted asking Mahama’s supporters to invest in Solana Africa, a cryptocurrency and blockchain.
“The president’s X account was compromised and we took steps to regain control. The account has now been fully restored and we urge the public to ignore any suspicious crypto-currency-related messages from this account,” Kwakye Ofosu said.
