Niger: Ramadan meal, a symbol of joy and hope for orphans

The Maarif de Türkiye Foundation (TMV) and the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TİKA) brightened up the evening of March 15 with an iftar, a fast-breaking meal, in solidarity with children living in Niamey orphanages.

Nearly 1,000 people took part in this emotional event, attended by the Türkiye Ambassador to Niamey, Özgür Çınar, as well as representatives from the Turkish public and private sectors, the Türkiye Graduates Association, NGOs and staff from the Niger-Türkiye Friendship Schools.

The iftar featured inspiring speeches by Ambassador Çınar, TMV’s representative in Niger, İbrahim Duman, and TİKA’s representative in Niger, Tanju Polat.

The evening continued with multilingual performances (Turkish, Arabic, French and English) by students from the Niger-Türkiye Friendship Schools, followed by joyful entertainment, including a clown show, games and gift distribution.

This moment of sharing and fraternity not only warmed the hearts of the orphaned children, but also strengthened the bonds of friendship between Türkiye and Niger.
