South Sudan: 20 people on board a crashed plane

A plane carrying 20 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff from an airport in the Unity State region of South Sudan, according to reports.

Gatwech Bipal, Unity State Minister of Information and Communication, said the plane, which was due to fly to the capital Juba, crashed immediately after departure.

He added that it was heading for the crash site in the Upper Great Nile region.

Authorities fear there may be loss of life.
