Following instructions from US President Donald Trump, Google has announced the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America in the Maps application.
Google Maps released a statement on Monday regarding Donald Trump’s renaming of the Gulf of Mexico and Mount Denali.
In the statement, Google Maps announced that the name of the Gulf of Mexico would be changed to Gulf of America and that of Alaska’s Mount Denali would be changed to McKinley.
These changes will be implemented after an update of the geographical names system in the USA.
Alaska’s Mount Denali, named after former U.S. President McKinley, was renamed Denali by former U.S. President Barack Obama in 2015, with locals calling it that.
Donald Trump has announced that he will rename the mountain back to its former name McKinley.
