Guinea-Bissau: ban on the import and use of plastic bags

The Minister for the Environment, Biodiversity and Climate Action, Viriato Soares Cassama, announced a ban on the import and use of plastic bags in the country.

These bags represent a major threat to soils, terrestrial and marine ecosystems, as well as to human health, due to the pollution they generate, he justified, recalling that the same ban measure had been taken in 2013 but was never respected.

This measure aims to limit the environmental impact of plastics and reinforce the fight against climate change.
