A 25-year-old church secretary has been arrested for allegedly embezzling GHS 300,000 from church funds to sponsor his gay partner’s tertiary education in Ghana.
The arrest was made following suspicions of financial irregularities within the church.
Upon interrogation, the suspect, who is married with children, confessed to using the church’s funds to support his lover, who was facing financial difficulties.
In addition to financing the lover’s education, he used part of the money for travel expenses to arrange for their relocation to Canada in an attempt to avoid any potential scandal related to their relationship.
The arrest has left the church and its congregation shocked, as investigations into the matter continue.
