Mentally handicapped man sets fire to teacher’s bungalow

A mentally challenged man has set ablaze a teachers bungalow at Nkyenekyene in the Kwahu South Municipality of the Eastern Region, Ghana.

The bungalow houses teachers of Nkyenekyene Presbyterian Basic School.

According to Adom News, “the mentally challenged man has been in the town for about a week.”

Since his arrival from an unknown location he had been staying around the bungalow, but it is unclear what caused him to set the facility on fire.

The devastating incident has shaken the community, leaving the occupants, who have lost all their belongings, in grief.

The teachers disclosed that it may be difficult for them to continue living in the town.

They have also appealed to individuals, non-governmental organizations, and the government to come to their aid.

Meanwhile, some residents have appealed to relevant stakeholders to support the teachers urgently so the incident does not affect academic work.

The suspect has been apprehended and handed over to the police for further investigation.
