Benin: 28 soldiers killed in an attack

Twenty-eight soldiers were killed in an attack by suspected terrorists in northern Benin near the border with Niger and Burkina Faso.

“The attack took place on Wednesday at the triple point, the name given to the border area between Benin, Niger and Burkina Faso,” reports said.

“We are continuing the sweep. So far, forty assailants have been neutralized,” reports added.

The Beninese authorities have yet to make any statement on the attack.

In December, three Beninese soldiers were killed and four wounded in an attack in northeastern Benin.

In June, seven Beninese soldiers were killed in an attack in the Pendjari National Park on the border with Burkina Faso, according to reports.
