A nine-year-old girl has drowned in a swimming pool at the Tonyx Hotel near Aberewa Nkwanta in Koforidua, Ghana, according to reports.
According to reports, “the girl was with her five siblings under the care of their father in the hotel.”
“The girl did not participate in swimming activities but was instead taking pictures with other children by the poolside,” reports stated.
Tragically, she was discovered at the bottom of the pool when a search party was organized after the family realized she was missing as they prepared to leave.
Health professionals at the Eastern Regional Hospital pronounced her dead on arrival after she was rushed to the facility shortly after being retrieved from the pool.
The Koforidua Divisional Command is investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of the nine-year-old girl.
Meanwhile, the management of the hotel has pledged to assist the police in their investigations and is expected to address the media regarding the incident.
