World Bank allocates $150 million to support Tunisia’s health sector

The World Bank has decided to grant an additional $150 million in funding to the Tunisian Ministry of Health, to support several key health initiatives, according to reports.

At a meeting between Mustapha Ferjani, Minister of Health, and Fadia Saada, Regional Director of Human Development for the Middle East and North Africa at the World Bank, it was agreed that these funds would be allocated to the development of curative and preventive care services in front-line structures, says the daily “La presse”.

A significant portion of these funds will also be dedicated to promoting the digitization of the healthcare sector, improving telemedicine programs, and establishing the resources needed to position Tunisia as a regional vaccine production hub, reports the same source, adding that part of this funding will be aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Tunisian healthcare system to cope with health emergencies.
