A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for posing as a fake lesbian on Tiktok to extort money from Internet users in Benin.
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment and a fine of one million FCFA.
According to reports, the accused lured his victims to the TikTok social network under the pretext of looking for partners.
After establishing a relationship of trust, he would encourage them to send him intimate videos.
And once in possession of these videos, he threatened to broadcast them on the Internet unless he received payments, amounting to 55,000 FCFA per victim.
In addition, more than a dozen compromising videos were discovered on his phone.
