Niger: 21 civilians killed in an attack

At least twenty-one Niger civilians were killed in an attack near the Burkina Faso border, the Niger army announced.

“On Thursday, December 5, 2024, a public transport vehicle, linking Téra to Bankilaré, was intercepted by armed bandits on motorcycles,” said the Nigerien armed forces (FAN).

“These lawless criminals savagely murdered 21 innocent passengers”, reports said.

The towns of Téra and Bankilaré are located in western Niger, close to the border with Burkina Faso.

Since 2017, localities in western Niger have faced armed attacks attributed to terrorist groups operating in the three-border zone located between Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
