Two girls arrested for stabbing a boy to death

The Asokwa District Court has remanded two juveniles following their involvement in the killing of a 16-year-old boy at Anloga, in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Ghana.

The victim, a recent Basic Education Certificate Exam­ination (BECE) graduate set to start Senior High School, after an argument led to the main suspect, a 16-year-old girl, allegedly stabbing the victim.

The second suspect, a 15-year-old girl is accused of abetting the murder.

At the defendants’ first court appearance, the female suspect was charged with murder and causing injury to the victim, while the other female suspect was charged with complicity in murder.

The case has been adjourned to November 20.

The deceased brother, after court pro­ceedings, expressed confidence in the justice delivery system, after the court denied the suspect’s request for bail.

According to eyewitnesses, “the incident occurred following a dispute between the victim and one of the girls while the trio was escorting a friend home.”

Acccording to reports, “during the altercation, one of the girls allegedly stabbed the boy in the rib with a knife, causing severe bleeding. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pro­nounced dead upon arrival.”
