Kim Jong-un orders massive production of explosive drones

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has ordered that priority be given to the mass production of explosive drones, while his country is accused of sending soldiers and weapons to Russia to help in its war against Ukraine.

The information was reported on November 15.

“North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended a drone performance test at a factory on Thursday November 14,” according to North Korea’s KCNA news agency.

“He stressed the need to build a mass production system as soon as possible and move to mass production of explosive drones,” KCNA reported.

These drones can not only hit targets on land, but also at sea. Their large-scale production could represent a very serious threat, at a time when Russia has just signed a mutual defense treaty with North Korea earlier this month.

These explosive-carrying drones, which North Korea first unveiled in August 2024, are designed to deliberately crash-land on enemy targets, acting as guided missiles.

Experts believe these drones may be the result of the country’s strengthening alliance with Russia.
