Boko Haram attack kills 40 in Chad

At least 40 Chadian soldiers were killed in a major attack by the Islamist sect Boko Haram on Sunday evening, October 27, against a Chadian army advance base in the Lake Chad region in the southwest of the country.

The latter announced that President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno would be visiting the site on Monday October 28.

In detail, the Boko Haram attack began at around 10 p.m. local time on Sunday, targeting the Chadian army’s forward base on the island of Barkaram, close to the Nigerian border.

“The more than 200 soldiers garrisoning the base were unable to contain the attackers, who were very numerous,” according to reports.

“Around sixty soldiers who lost their lives and dozens wounded”, reports added.
