Eight people were killed in cold blood after an attack on the village of Malgbangoun in northern Togo, according to reports.
According to several residents, “armed men entered a compound and killed eight people in cold blood as the incident occurred on Friday night”.
The owner of one house, who was sheltering displaced people fleeing insecurity in a neighboring village, was shot dead along with his guests.
This is the second time in less than two weeks that the village of Malgbangou has been attacked by armed groups.
A few days earlier, they had set fire to some stores before disappearing without causing any casualties.
In recent months, the region has become a hotbed of armed incursions, forcing many villagers to flee their homes to safer localities.
The number of internally displaced people continues to rise. As a result, fields have been abandoned, and farming activities have come to a complete standstill.
