CAN 2025: Burkina Faso first to qualify

The Burkina Faso team has qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), following its 2-0 victory over Burundi in the return leg at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium in Abidjan on Sunday.

Burkina Faso are the first team to qualify for the CAN 2025 after Morocco, who qualified as hosts.

The first leg ended in a crushing 4-1 victory for Burkina Faso’s Etalons over Burundi’s Hirondelles.

With two days to go before the end of the qualifiers, Burkina Faso have thus confirmed their ticket to the CAN, and will play the two remaining matches for first place in the group.

Pending the Malawi-Senegal match next Tuesday, Burkina Faso occupies first place in Group L with 10 points (+7), followed by Senegal (7 points +5), Burundi (3 points – 5) and Malawi (0 point).

The CAN 2025 will be played in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
