A 37-year-old woman has been arrested for torturing two small children in her care in Yola South Local Government Area, Nigeria.

The state police spokesman, Suleiman Nguroje, said, “the suspect subjected the children to abuse because they urinated and defecated inside the house”.

The police took her into custody after it was revealed that she had physically assaulted a two-year-old girl and a young boy.

Nguroje said, “Neighbours reported that the suspect, who is childless, had a history of maltreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.”

The police spokesman explained, “the suspect confessed to the crimes after she was arrested”.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, has ordered that she be charged to court.
