In Ivory Coast, more than ten bars are threatened with closure for violating the ban on smoking in public places.
On the evenings of Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October, the health police carried out operations that led to the seizure of 250 chichas in 11 bars.
According to the health authorities, these establishments risk closure, and the promoters have been summoned to explain themselves.
During the evenings of Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October 2024, 250 chichas and their accessories were seized in 11 bars and restaurants in Yopougon, Abobo and Cocody Angré . In Angré, 148 chichas were confiscated.
The promoters of these establishments have been summoned and risk the closure of their premises, in accordance with the sanctions provided for by law, indicated the health police on its Facebook page.
It should be noted that this is not the first time that Health Police officers have made a raid in the field. On September 27, several bars in Yopougon were visited by these officers.
