24-year-old welder electrocuted in Lagos

A 24-year-old welder has been confirmed dead after he was electrocuted at Nnamdi Azikiwe Street on the Lagos Island area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

“The deceased was working on the site of a two-storey building under renovation when the incident happened,” reports said.

“While working on the second floor, he came into contact with a live electrical source, resulting in severe burns to both legs,” reports added.

The Lagos State Police Command, Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin said ” the force of the electrocution was so strong that his burnt body was flung down to the first floor.

The statement added that photographs were taken, and the corpse was evacuated to the Yaba General Hospital, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead.

“The corpse was deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin added.
