A few weeks after announcing that it was working on developing more advanced voice features for its artificial intelligence, ChatGPT, OpenAI has announced the launch of an alpha version.
This is now available to a limited number of users of ChatGPT Plus, the premium version of its conversational agent, accessible by subscription: “Access to a larger number of ChatGPT Plus users will be gradually extended over the coming weeks,” OpenAI announced in a press release.
An “alpha” before a full release at the end of 2024
All ChatGPT Plus subscribers will be entitled to it “next fall”. If a user is selected for this “alpha” version, they will be notified by email or via the application, with instructions on how to take advantage of it.
Soon, it will also be possible to enjoy video and screen sharing features. If voice was one of the key elements of GPT-4o, OpenAI specifies that it can focus “as a priority” on quality and security before making voice conversations available “to all ChatGPT users”.
The company plans to provide a new update at the beginning of August. Until then, the “alpha” version will be improved day by day for optimization purposes, in particular thanks to feedback from the first testers.
