At least three armed terrorists killed in northern Algeria

The Algerian army has killed three armed “terrorists” during a military operation in northern Algeria, the Algerian Ministry of Defense announced in a statement on Sunday, July 28.

“As part of the fight against terrorism, a detachment of the army yesterday (Saturday) killed three dangerous terrorists, namely the terrorist Debar Boumediene, the terrorist Hamneche Ibrahim and the terrorist Alali Mohamed,” during a search and combing operation in El Attaf in the prefecture of Ain Defla, according to the statement.

Two Kalashnikovs and ammunition were seized during this operation, according to the same source.

Despite the 2005 Charter for Peace and Reconciliation, which was supposed to help turn the page on violence, armed groups continue to carry out sporadic operations.

According to an AFP count based on press releases from the Ministry of Defense, 35 “terrorists” have been killed and 256 people supporting Islamist armed groups have been arrested during operations carried out by the army since January 1, 2024.
