64-year-old man sentenced for murder of driver

A 64-year-old American sentenced to death for killing the driver of a van in 1998 was executed by lethal injection this Thursday, July 18 in Alabama, prison authorities in this southern US state announced.

“Keith Edmund Gavin was executed by lethal injection and was pronounced dead at 6:32 p.m. local time,” according to the authorities’ statement.

The man who maintained his innocence was convicted of fatally shooting William Clayton, a 68-year-old driver and father of seven, when he was withdrawing money to take his wife to a dinner, according to court documents.
