Tunisia faces severe water shortages

In Tunisia, the lack of water is a major development problem, and access to this essential element is becoming a chore.

According to the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, global warming is causing water to evaporate.

Despite the presence of numerous dams to conserve water, the situation is worsening, much to the despair of the authorities.

As a result, the population’s demand for water is increasing daily.

According to the Tunisian authorities, Tunisia loses up to 650,000 cubic meters of water a day.

However, some hydro-climatologists believe that this situation is not caused by water evaporation, but rather by the absence of precipitation.

As a result, the authorities in this Maghreb nation have taken steps to combat the drought.

To achieve this, the country has decided to create artificial rainfall in specific areas, as well as building six new dams across the country.
