More than 100 same-sex couples marry in collective ceremony

More than a hundred same-sex couples got married this Friday, June 28, during a political ceremony organized as part of the LGBT+ pride celebrations in Mexico City, capital of Mexico.

According to Reuters, 147 couples said “yes” on Friday. The ceremony began with a choir concert, followed by a civil ritual for the exchange of vows and the formalization of the marriage.

This ceremony takes place every year in the Mexican capital during Pride Month in June.

Mexico City is a particularly forward-thinking city on the subject since it legalized same-sex marriage in 2009. Across the country, it was not until 2022 that all states passed this legislation .
