U.S. President Joe Biden is expected in France on June 5, 2024 as the visit will mark his first state visit to France, and will be an opportunity to meet President Emmanuel Macron.
The highlight of the visit will be the participation of Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, in the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, scheduled for June 6, 2024.
These ceremonies, a tribute to the historic World War II operation, will also attract other world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to a White House press release, Joe Biden will remain in France until June 9.
The visit aims to strengthen Franco-American relations and honor the historic ties between the two nations, in particular through the D-Day commemorations, symbols of their cooperation during the war.
The state visit will include bilateral meetings, discussions on current international issues, as well as cultural and protocol events, and underlines the importance of transatlantic relations in the current geopolitical context.
