A US court will examine whether or not to ban Tiktok

A US appeals court in September will consider challenges to a recent law requiring Bytedance (the Chinese company that owns TikTok) to sell the app’s US assets by January 2025, failing which it will be banned in the United States.

Very recently, content creators joined Bytedance and the Chinese social network to request an “expedited procedure” regarding the challenge to the law requiring the sale of Tiktok’s American assets.

These TikTokers argue that the potential ban on the app would significantly harm their means of “making money,” which relies on the platform to reach their audience.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia will hear the arguments in oral arguments in September.
