A 31-year-old man drowned inside a well while attempting to retrieve a phone in the Oja-Odan area of Ogun State, Nigeria, according to reports.
A witness said, “the dceased attempted to enter the well to retrieve the phone which has=d accidentally fallen into the well.”
The witness warned the victim but he failed to yield to the warning and proceeded to enter the well, reports said.
Police officers visited the scene of the incidents and recovered the body of the deceased which was handed over to the family upon request.
A preliminary investigation found no signs of violence, confirming that the incident was an unfortunate accident.
The family of the deceased has been notified, and they requested to bury the remains under Muslim rites.
The Ogun State Police Command expresses its deep condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased and urges the public to exercise caution when dealing with such hazardous situations.
