USA: Donald Trump sets migrants on fire

Monday, November 18, 2024, Donald Trump announced his intention to declare a national state of emergency in order to implement his plans for mass migrant deportations.

Tom Fitton, director of conservative organization Judicial Watch, wrote on Trump’s Truth Social platform, Good news: according to some reports, the Trump administration is ready to declare a national state of emergency and use military resources to fight the invasion enabled by (President Joe Biden), with a program of mass deportations. In response, Trump simply asserted, It’s true!

There are more than 11 million irregular migrants in the United States, and this project is causing great concern among human rights activists, who fear serious consequences for this population and for the rule of law.

Many economists have also warned that this program, in addition to its colossal cost, could have a considerable impact on the US economy, already hit by a labor shortage.

Last April, Donald Trump had already indicated that the National Guard, a military corps under the authority of the US states, should be able to take charge of these deportations.

“If it’s not, I’ll use the military”, i.e. federal troops, he added.
