Seventy-five people were killed, 148 injured and 250,305 others affected by flooding in Mali, reported the national coordination for crisis and natural disaster management.
Some 591 cases of flooding were recorded in Mali from August 1, 2024 to September 27, the national crisis and disaster management coordination announced on Friday, specifying that the Timbuktu region was the most affected, with 196 cases of flooding.
Niarga Oulé Dembelé, national director of sanitation, said that the Ministry of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development was working hard to complete the drain cleaning work, which was 95% complete.
For his part, Garantigui Traoré, representing the Ministry of Agriculture, pointed out that crops had been badly affected by the floods.
