Senegal in the midst of a digital revolution

In Senegal, the government is planning to launch an online neo-bank in collaboration with the Banque Nationale de Développement Economique (BNDE).

The announcement was made by Amadou Chérif Diouf, Secretary of State for Senegalese Abroad, in a media interview.

This initiative is not insignificant, as the online banking sector is booming in Africa. These banks enable customers to carry out their transactions remotely via various channels: internet, telephone, webcam or mail.

Subscriptions can be made entirely online, using electronic signatures (legally recognized in France), or by downloading the necessary documents (identity papers, etc.). Contracts can also be printed out, signed manually and sent by post.

Transactions can also be carried out online. Banking advisors can be contacted by telephone, e-mail, webcam, chat or post.

As a reminder, online banks generally have longer opening hours during the day and at weekends than bank branches.
