Ghana: Thirteen candidacies validated for presidential election

The Ghanaian Electoral Commission has validated 13 candidacies for the presidential election scheduled for December 07, 2024.

Of the 13 validated candidacies, nine were presented by political parties and four by independents, according to informations.

The two front-runners, vice-president Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition leader John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were among the candidates selected.

The EC states that it has carried out a “thorough examination of the application forms submitted by the candidates to ensure that they comply with the requirements laid down by law”.
